Licence and documents
A foreign driver on a temporary stay may drive in Morocco with a valid foreign licence for up to one year (Article 2 of Law No. 52-05). This rule concerns the right to drive.
Documents requested by an agency fall under that agency's own conditions: they cannot be inferred from nationality or from the alphabet used on the licence.
An international driving permit is therefore neither systematically required nor systematically unnecessary: confirm the rental company's requirements before booking.
Deposit, insurance and the no-deposit option
The deposit, the excesses and the cover depend on the agency and on the offer selected.
The no-deposit option shown on KARVYX brings the deposit down to 0 MAD. It does not remove damage and theft excesses, and it must not be confused with comprehensive cover or with a zero excess.
Eligibility depends on the agency, on the vehicle and, where applicable, on a minimum age.
On the road around Fes
- In built-up areas the general limit is 60 km/h; local signage takes precedence and there are 20 or 40 km/h zones.
- In a roundabout, priority is not automatic: follow the signage and signal every lane change.
- Using a hand-held phone by the driver of a moving vehicle is prohibited.
- The alcohol limit is reached from 0.10 mg/L in expired breath or 0.20 g/L of blood (Joint Decree No. 2707-10). Do not drive under the influence of alcohol.
