Car rental companies in Morocco

International brands, Moroccan local agencies or booking platforms: how they differ on price, deposit, insurance and accepted payment methods — with indicative daily rates by vehicle category.

Key insight: the company type mainly changes the deposit and the payment methods accepted, not just the daily rate.

The three kinds of rental companies

In Morocco you will rent from one of these three, and each works differently at the counter.

International rental brands

Global networks with counters at the main Moroccan airports.

  • Recognisable booking process and standardised contracts
  • Large airport presence in Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir
  • Newer fleets on the higher categories
  • A credit card in the main driver's name is often required
  • Deposits and excess amounts are usually on the higher side
  • Airport surcharges and one-way fees can be added at the counter

Credit card usually required for the deposit.

Moroccan local agencies

Independent rental companies based in one or a few Moroccan cities.

  • Competitive daily rates, especially on mini and compact cars
  • Flexible pickup: hotel, riad, city centre or airport meeting point
  • Direct contact with the agency, often in French, Arabic and English
  • Conditions differ from one agency to another — read the offer terms
  • Insurance level and excess vary widely
  • Fleet age and vehicle condition are worth checking at pickup

Some accept a debit card, sometimes with full-coverage insurance.

Booking platforms and marketplaces

Comparison and booking services that aggregate several agencies, like KARVYX.

  • One search shows offers from several agencies side by side
  • Deposit, insurance level and accepted payment methods shown before payment
  • Coverage across several cities without contacting each agency
  • The rental contract is still signed with the agency operating the car
  • Availability depends on the partner agencies in each city
  • Check the cancellation window that applies to the specific offer

Accepted payment methods are displayed per offer.

What to compare beyond the daily rate

Deposit: how much is held, and whether it is pre-authorised or actually charged.

Insurance: basic cover with an excess, or full coverage with zero excess.

Payment methods: credit card only, or debit card accepted on the offer.

Mileage: unlimited or capped, and the price per extra kilometre.

Pickup and return: airport counter, city office, or delivery to your hotel.

Fuel policy: full-to-full is the most predictable option.

Renting without a credit card

This is where the companies differ most. International brands generally expect a credit card in the main driver's name for the deposit, while some Moroccan local agencies accept a debit card, often together with full-coverage insurance. Our dedicated guide explains the deposit handling, the insurance conditions and what to check before booking.
